Celia, or Baroness Thomas of Winchester, is a Liberal Democrat peer in the House of Lords. She was misdiagnosed for many years, receiving a diagnosis of Pompe late in life. She is a strong advocate for social care and often uses her position to raise the debate to value carer-givers more highly.
Celia fondly remembers her hobbies of walking, travelling, tennis and especially singing in the Bach choir, having performed at the Albert Hall. It was her struggle with singing which led to her diagnosis of Pompe Disease. However, Celia still loves getting out and about and meeting her local community.
As Celia says, she is very much the master of her own fate.
Following the screening of the film, Celia answered questions and shared more stories of her wonderful life.
The Q&A sessions following the release of each of the five films have been compelling, humbling and inspirational, and such a fantastic forum for people within the Pompe community to connect and discuss matters touched upon in the films.
This is the last film in the current series films in the series but each of the films will be available to watch on our website or our YouTube channel.
We are so excited for you all to see the films and to hear the stories of the wonderful people of Pompe.
