Becky was diagnosed with Pompe disease in 2023, following a relatively short diagnosis journey of around a year. Although she had spoken to her GP on and off in previous years, her symptoms were initially thought to be related to lifestyle. She was taken more seriously when she and her sister began experiencing similar symptoms, and they were subsequently both diagnosed with Pompe disease.

Becky is married and a mum to two daughters, as well as a proud grandmother to her six-year-old granddaughter. She has worked in Child & Family Services since 2009 and now works part-time with children with SEND in a school setting, which she really enjoys. Outside of work, Becky loves spending time with friends and has recently discovered a new hobby in Reformer Pilates.

Becky first came across the Pompe Support Network after her consultant suggested that she get in touch. Shortly after her diagnosis, she received counselling support from the wonderful psychotherapist at PSN. She has also really enjoyed taking part in the monthly online meetings and attending the fantastic conferences organised by Alan and Hülya.

The Pompe Support Network has been a great source of support for Becky, and she is delighted to now be giving back as a volunteer.
