The WORLD Symposium 2023 was a 5-day conference held in Orlando, Florida, in February of this year and was a well-attended face-to-face meeting. Many companies with interests in Pompe disease were present along with a good number of patient representatives throughout the event representing
UK, New Zealand, Germany, USA, Canada and Japan.
Pompe Support Network represented the UK with Allan Muir (PSN Chair), Hülya Apaydin (Trustee) and Alex Jones (Communications Officer) in attendance for the week's events.
Allan organised a show booth to display all the activities ongoing at PSN and to help promote other international members which USA and Japan took advantage of. The booth attracted a lot of attention and was a valuable space to meet with all members of the Pompe community and beyond.
Alex has produced a short video presentation of the WORLD Symposium with voice overs from each of our national patient representatives showing what a fantastic event the symposium is for rare disease charities and how it helps build the communities as well as provide valuable meeting points for industry, patients and patient advocacy groups. We hope the film helps to encourage other national organisations and all the community to join next year's WORLD symposium and similar international meetings.
